Liturgist
Liturgist  is responsible for coordinating and supporting Newman Student  liturgical services on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Liturgist works in collaboration with the Sacristans, Hospitality Specialists, and Music Coordinator.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruiting, Training, and Scheduling lectors and eucharistic ministers 
  • Supporting the Sacristans on Wednesdays and Sundays
  • Coordinate special liturgies 
  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings as needed
  • Foster a fruitful relationship with St. James Liturgy ministry
  • Attend St.  James Liturgy meetings and update team  

Sunday Sacristan 
Sunday Sacristan is responsible for organizing and facilitating all Newman liturgical services on Sunday. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruiting, Training, and Scheduling liturgical ministers 
  • Plan and coordinate liturgical ministers for Sunday Student Mass
  • Beautification of Sanctuary in accordance to Liturgical Season
  • Assisting with Fall and Spring Retreat liturgical services
  • Special Event Liturgies eg. Ash Wednesday, Easter, Bacc Mass, STREAM etc.
  • Cleanliness and Organization of Sacristy and Church

Wednesday Sacristan 
Wednesday Sacristan is responsible for organizing and facilitating all Newman liturgical services on Wednesday. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruiting, Training, and Scheduling liturgical ministers 
  • Plan and coordinate liturgical ministers for Wednesday Student Mass
  • Beautification of Sanctuary in accordance to Liturgical Season
  • Assisting with Fall and Spring Retreat liturgical services
  • Special Event Liturgies eg. Ash Wednesday, Easter, Bacc Mass, STREAM etc.
  • Cleanliness and Organization of Sacristy and Church

Hospitality Specialist
Hospitality Specialist is responsible for providing a welcoming community environment and refreshments directly following Sunday Student Mass. Hospitality Specialist works in collaboration with the Liturgist and the Hospitality Coordinator.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Set up and Clean up of refreshments for Sunday Student Mass
  • Budget Management 
  • Grocery Shopping and Food Prep
  • Support Student Liturgies, on campus liturgies, and STREAM

Prayer Coordinator
Prayer Coordinator is responsible for organizing prayer opportunities and leading prayer for special events. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Organize on Campus prayer opportunities
  • Lead prayer and empower others to lead
  • Organize novenas, rosaries, or other prayers for special events e.g. Fall Retreat
  • This Position supports the council and Newman Ministry through prayer

Music Coordinator
Music Coordinator is responsible for planning and organizing music for Student Liturgies, Prayer Experiences, Retreats, and STREAM. The Music Coordinator recruits and builds up the music ministry for the Newman Center and fosters an open, welcoming, and positive environment for musicians. Music Coordinator reports to the Newman Director and Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning and leading music for Sunday Student Mass, Special Liturgies, STREAM, Retreats, and Prayer Experiences
  • Worship planning and practice schedule
  • Lead music ministry practices
  • Music composition and direction *as needed
  • Development of musicianship and confidence for new members
  • Budget Management 
  • Recruitment and training of music ministers
  • Scheduling and rotation of music ministers to allow ongoing involvement 

Music Development Specialist
Music Development Specialist is responsible for research and development of contemporary music for Student Liturgies, Prayer Experiences, Retreats, and STREAM. The Music Development Specialist maintains and updates the music library and music ministry resources such as binders & Ipads. Music Development assists in fostering an open, welcoming, and positive environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Research and develop new songs for music ministry
  • Organize and maintain music binders & Ipads
  • Support the scheduling and recruitment of musicians
  • Support the planning and execution of music for Student Mass, Prayer Experiences, Retreats, and STREAM
  • Weekly Planning meeting and practice 
 
Music Recruitment Specialist
Music Recruitment Specialist is responsible for the outreach and recruitment of new musicians. The Music Recruitment Specialist supports the growth and development of musicians as well as fosters an open, welcoming, and positive environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to 
  • Outreach to new musicians
  • Communication with musicians and support for scheduling
  • Support the planning and praying of music for Student Mass, Prayer Experiences, Retreats, and STREAM
  • Weekly planning meeting and practice
  • Development of musicianship and confidence for new members
